Who is Mellanin?

Mellanin is my alter ego. He's a mischievous character, a bit like myself, but he's become more than that because of who he allows me to be.

Originally, he was thought up as a way to keep my anonymity. I am the rapper behind Mellanin, but I always pictured this cartoon character as my avatar. He who could represent the music, carry the brand, and eventually become something beyond it.

That separation still matters. In my professional life, some of Mell's antics might not be received as artistic expression. Some of the things Mell says wouldn't go over very well with my HR department.

Mell is my Mr. Hyde. Or maybe I'm Doc Frank, and he's the creation that's taken on a life of his own. He has his own personality, his own antics, and a whole universe growing around him. He exists outside the music, but he's inseparable from it. He's at the center of the whole thing.

I created whoismellanin.com as a place for Mellanin to grow, for the music to be heard, and his world to be brought to life. In the end, though, I just love creating, and I wanted a place to share what I create.
